Getting Started

Melanated Moms Travel (MMT) is a Black couple-owned travel agency specializing in high-end, fully curated travel experiences for Black moms. We handle everything — flights, hotels, transfers, excursions, dining recommendations, and more — so you can show up and receive.

We offer two core services: F.I.T. Travel (custom solo or small group itineraries built around your exact vision) and Group Trips (curated MMT experiences where the sisterhood, the energy, and the rest are already built in).

MMT was built specifically for Black moms — the ones who have been pouring into everyone else and are finally ready to pour back into themselves. Whether you're a first-time solo traveler, planning a girls' trip, or looking for a restorative retreat, if you're a Black woman ready to invest in herself, you're exactly who we're here for.

We focus exclusively on mom-centric solo and group travel — not family trips with kids. This is her time.

Three words: white-glove service. When you book on your own, you're navigating dozens of sites, comparing options, making decisions without expertise, and handling every hiccup alone. When a flight gets cancelled or a hotel overbooks, you're on hold for three hours by yourself.

With MMT, you have a real team in your corner — before, during, and after your trip. We research the best options based on your vision and budget, curate every detail, and are reachable if anything comes up while you're away. You don't manage the trip. You enjoy it.

Easy. Book a free consultation with us. It's a short, no-pressure call where we get to know your travel goals, your budget, and what rest looks like for you. From there, we take the wheel — no stress, no overwhelm, just the beginning of your next great adventure.

If you're interested in a specific group trip, head to our Experiences page to see what's coming up and secure your spot.

Our brand was built with the Black mom at the center, but if you're a Black woman who resonates with the mission — the self-care, the sisterhood, the "I deserve this" energy — you belong here too. The spirit of MMT is for any Black woman who's ready to choose herself and travel well.

Booking & Planning

For international travel, we recommend reaching out at least 3–6 months in advance. This gives us the time to research the best options, lock in lower fares, and secure availability at top properties. Popular destinations and travel seasons book out fast.

For domestic travel, 4–8 weeks out is typically workable, though earlier is always better. If you have a specific date in mind, don't wait — reach out now.

After your consultation, we get to work. We research flights, hotels, ground transportation, and excursions based on your vision and budget, then put together a polished travel proposal for your review — typically within 3–5 business days.

You review the proposal, we refine it until it's exactly right, you confirm, pay your deposit, and we take it from there. Your only job from that point forward is to start counting down to your departure date.

Absolutely — that's the whole point of F.I.T. travel. Your itinerary is built around your specific dates, your preferences, your budget, and your vision of what rest and adventure look like for you. Nothing is off-the-shelf.

We'll go back and forth on the details until the proposal feels exactly right. We don't finalize and move forward until you're fully satisfied with what's on the table.

Yes — flights are included in our F.I.T. proposals. We research the best routing and pricing for your travel dates, with a preference for non-stop flights whenever they're available and within budget.

If you already have flights booked or prefer to handle flights yourself (using points, for example), we can absolutely work around that and handle everything else.

We serve a wide range of international and domestic destinations — the Caribbean, Mexico, Europe, Africa, and beyond. If you can dream it, we can research it.

Popular destinations our clients love include Jamaica, Cancún, Dominican Republic, Aruba, Turks & Caicos, Bali, Portugal, and Ghana. But honestly? Tell us where your heart is pulling you and we'll build the experience around it.

Yes — every MMT client receives a polished, day-by-day travel itinerary with all confirmations, details, and logistics laid out clearly. Approximately 3 weeks before your departure, you'll also receive your personalized Pre-Departure Guide — a comprehensive document with destination intel, packing tips, entry requirements, and everything you need to feel fully prepared.

Your only job on departure day is to show up with your bags packed and your passport in hand.

Payment & Pricing

Trip pricing varies based on destination, travel dates, hotel selection, and the number of travelers. We work across a range of budgets — our goal is to get you the best possible experience for what you're working with, not to upsell you on things you don't need.

A small planning/service fee applies to F.I.T. custom itineraries, which covers the research, proposal, and booking management. This fee is disclosed upfront during your consultation. Group trip pricing is all-inclusive per-person, clearly outlined on each trip's information page.

Yes — and we're proud of it. We know that "I can't afford it all at once" has been the reason too many women have kept saying "maybe next year." That's not happening on our watch.

Payment plans are available for both F.I.T. travel and group trips. You'll pay a deposit to secure your booking, and the remaining balance is broken into scheduled payments leading up to your final payment due date. Specific plan details will be outlined in your booking agreement.

A deposit is required to confirm your booking and begin securing your reservations. The deposit amount varies by trip type and total cost, and will be clearly communicated in your booking agreement before you pay anything.

For group trips, deposits are typically required to hold your spot, and spots are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Once a trip sells out, it's sold out — so don't sleep on it.

Cancellation policies vary depending on the vendors involved (airlines, hotels, tour operators) and how close to the departure date a cancellation occurs. Each booking agreement outlines the specific cancellation terms for your trip.

In general, the closer to the travel date, the less refundable things become — which is exactly why we strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance at the time of booking. It protects your investment if life happens.

MMT's service/planning fee is non-refundable once the proposal and research process has begun.

We accept all major credit cards and debit cards. Payments are processed securely through Stripe. Please note that a 3% credit card processing fee applies to all card transactions.

Group Trips

MMT group trips are fully curated, all-inclusive travel experiences designed specifically for Black women. We handle every detail — the destination, the hotel, the excursions, the vibe — so that when you show up, your only job is to exhale, connect, and enjoy.

These aren't just vacations. They're sisterhood experiences. Every woman in that room was intentionally invited into a space that was made for her. The energy? Unmatched. The memories? Yours for life.

Yes — and honestly, solo travelers are our most common group trip attendees. Many of our clients book alone and leave with a whole crew of sisters they didn't have before they boarded the plane.

If you want a roommate to split the cost of accommodations, we offer roommate matching — we'll pair you with another solo traveler whose travel style and personality complement yours. Just let us know during the booking process.

Inclusions vary by trip, but group trips typically cover:

  • Hotel accommodations (double or single occupancy)
  • Ground transportation (airport transfers and group excursions)
  • Curated group activities and excursions
  • Welcome gifts and group experiences
  • MMT concierge support throughout the trip

Flights are generally booked separately so travelers have flexibility with their departure cities and frequent flyer points. Each trip's listing will clearly outline everything that's included and what's on your own.

Spots are secured with a deposit on a first-come, first-served basis. Once a trip is at capacity, it's closed — no exceptions. So if you've been eyeing a trip, the best time to move on it is now.

Head to the Experiences page to see upcoming trips and submit your deposit to lock in your spot. From there, you'll receive all the booking details and your payment plan schedule.

We've got you. MMT offers a roommate matching service for solo travelers who want to share accommodations and split the cost. We take your travel personality, sleep schedule, and preferences into account to pair you with someone you'll actually vibe with.

Just indicate during the booking process that you'd like to be matched, and we'll handle the rest.

Absolutely — and honestly, bringing a friend is one of the best things you can do. As long as spots are available, friends and travel partners are welcome to book the trip individually and request to room together during the booking process.

Just make sure they move quickly — spots fill fast and we can't hold spaces without a deposit.

F.I.T. Travel

F.I.T. stands for Fully Independent Travel — a custom itinerary built entirely around you. No group, no fixed schedule, no compromising on what you want your trip to feel like.

It's the perfect option if you want a solo escape, a trip with your girls, a romantic getaway, or a birthday celebration — and you want every detail handled by professionals who actually know what they're doing.

A full F.I.T. package can include:

  • Flight research and booking (non-stop preferred)
  • Hotel or resort selection with up to 3 curated options
  • Airport transfers and ground transportation
  • Excursion and activity recommendations and bookings
  • Dining recommendations
  • A polished day-by-day travel itinerary
  • A personalized Pre-Departure Guide (sent ~3 weeks before travel)
  • Ongoing support throughout your trip

Yes! F.I.T. travel doesn't mean solo travel — it means custom travel. We regularly plan F.I.T. trips for two people, small groups of friends, birthday squads, and girlfriend getaways. The itinerary is still built entirely around your group's vision and preferences.

Your custom trip proposal will show a total per-person price that covers all booked components. We also prepare an admin copy with a full cost breakdown so you know exactly what everything costs and where your money is going. No surprises. No hidden fees revealed at the end.

A planning fee is included in the total — this is disclosed upfront during your consultation so you always have the full picture before committing to anything.

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend it — and we mean strongly. Life is unpredictable. Flights get cancelled. Medical emergencies happen. Family situations come up. Without travel insurance, you risk losing every dollar you invested in your trip.

Travel insurance is one of the most affordable ways to protect your investment, and it gives you the peace of mind to actually relax while you're away. We recommend purchasing it at the time of booking.

Yes — we can add travel insurance to your booking. We'll walk you through coverage options and help you select the plan that best fits your trip and your peace of mind.

If you decline travel insurance, we'll ask you to sign a waiver acknowledging that you were offered coverage and chose to opt out. We don't take that lightly, and neither should you.

Coverage varies by plan, but most travel insurance policies include protection for:

  • Trip cancellation — recoup costs if you have to cancel for a covered reason
  • Trip interruption — coverage if your trip is cut short unexpectedly
  • Medical emergencies — medical treatment and emergency evacuation abroad
  • Baggage loss or delay — reimbursement for lost or significantly delayed luggage
  • Travel delay — coverage for meals, lodging, and expenses due to significant flight delays

We'll review the specific policy details with you so you know exactly what you're covered for before you purchase.

"Maybe next year"
ends today.

Your kids will be okay. The inbox will survive. That trip you've been promising yourself? It's not selfish. It's necessary. And it is time.
